What is Pharmacy ? 

Pharmacy is the health science that connects medical science with chemistry. It is an art, practice, or profession of preparing, preserving, compounding, and dispensing medicine which requires the magnificent knowledge of drugs, their mechanism of action, side effects, interactions, mobility, and toxicity. The medication experts who use their detailed knowledge of medicines to help patients get well are known as Pharmacists.

Scope of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Branches

Pharmacy courses are industry-oriented, so the graduates of pharmacy courses have high employment not only in India but also in other countries too. Pharmacy offers a course named Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm), which is a foundation course in the pharmacy field with a duration of 2 years. It course covers the basics related to the Pharmacy field.

Pharmacy also offers an undergraduate level degree called Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), which is a professional degree program that comes up with a duration of 4 years. In this, the students study about drugs and medicines, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Medicinal Chemistry, etc. It also offers a master's degree program known as Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) as one of the career options for the students who have been completed their graduation in the Pharmacy. Course Duration of Master degree in Pharmacy is of 2 Years.

Pharmacy also offers a course named Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D), which is a professional pharmacy doctoral degree. The duration of the Pharm.D course is of 6 years.

Eligibility of Pharmacy Courses

Eligibility for all the courses provided by the Pharmacy are as follows:

Candidates must have passed 10+2 exam from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics as core subjects with a minimum aggregate marks criteria provided by the exam authorities.

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)

Candidates must have passed 10+2 exam from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics as core subjects with a minimum aggregate marks criteria provided by the exam authorities.

Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm)

Candidates must have a B.Pharm degree from a PCI - approved institute with a minimum aggregate marks criteria provided by the exam or college authorities.

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)

Candidates must have 10+2 with physics, chemistry, and mathematics/ biology or Completed D.Pharm course from a PCI-approved institution or equivalent with a minimum aggregate marks criteria provided by the exam or college authorities.
